In order to keep Airmen and their families up-to-date on their vaccinations, the 7th Medical Group immunization clinic has flexible hours as listed on the slide. To help Airmen and their families understand the importance of vaccinations during National Immunization Awareness Month, the 7th Medical Group immunization clinic has prepared to take on common misconceptions about vaccines. Some of these misconceptions include alternative vaccinating schedules and opting out of vaccinations. Dietary supplements: the bad and the ugly

The Food and Drug Administration has a list of 18 “tainted” multiple weight-loss supplements that contain sibutramine – which was removed from the market in October 2010 for safety reasons. Sibutramine is known to substantially increase blood pressure and/or pulse rate. The FDA has found nearly 300 fraudulent products promoted mainly for weight loss, sexual enhancement and bodybuilding, often represented as being “all natural”. According to the FDA website, they have received numerous reports of harm associated with the use of these products, including stroke, liver injury, kidney failure, heart palpitations and death. The Human Performance Resource Center lists supplements by zone classifications. Green zone supplements are the most likely to provide high performance benefits with the least likelihood of adverse effects. Yellow zone supplements have low to moderate risk of adverse side effects and low potential benefits. Protecting our people: A team effort between patient and provider
