Toolboxes save money

DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas – Senior Airman William Faith, 317 Aircraft Maintenance Squadron Hydraulics, and Master Sgt. Doyle McKinney, 317 Aircraft Maintenance Squadron Support flight chief, sign out tools from the new electronic toolboxes here Nov. 19. The new electronic toolboxes were first introduced 3 years ago and are designed for specialty tools. Airmen will sign out tools by swiping their Common Access Card, which will help prevent the loss of tools and reduce FOD. Dyess purchased 11 new toolboxes since 2008 and plans to purchase 14 more in the future. These toolboxes save 25 man-hours a day, and $35 per man-hour per toolbox.
