DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The Commander's Corner is a forum for the Dyess community to make suggestions or voice concerns about Dyess directly to Brig. Gen. Glen VanHerck, 7th Bomb Wing commander. Each week the Dyess Public Affairs office solicits questions via the official Dyess Facebook page, offering people an opportunity to ask questions and receive answers directly from the wing commander.

QUESTION

Jasmin Chandler - At the last two bases we have been to, they had a cookie caper every year close to Christmas! People within the base community baked Christmas treats and cookies, they were then collected at the club, repackaged and then handed out to all of the singleairmen living in the dorms! Just to give them a little home made something, during the holidays while they are away from home. This however was overseas each time. We just got here this year and I was wondering if our base is holding a similar event. Jasmin - I genuinely appreciate your interest in volunteering and your enthusiasm to raise the morale of our Airmen in the dorms by helping them feel at home during the holidays. As Christina Kuper mentioned, our first sergeants spearhead a cookie drive every year as the holiday season approaches, and I am sure they would love to have your help. I imagine you will see something advertised around November looking for volunteers to help with the cookie drive, but if you don't, please get in touch with your spouse's first sergeant and let him or her know you are interested in lending a hand.
