Month of the Military Child
On April 2, the Family Advocacy Program staff will host a proclamation breakfast to kick-off the Month of the Military Child and Child Abuse Prevention Month. Cost is $10 a person and will be held at the Heritage Club from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. For more information contact Diane Bradley at 696-5380

Head start and pre-kindergarten enrollment
Head Start and pre-kindergarten enrollment for Locust and Woodson Early Childhood Centers starts April 7 at the Abilene Civic Center in Conference Room 1. Military families may also register Aug. 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Dyess Heritage Club. Registration at the Civic Center is from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 7-8 for 4-year-olds only and April 9 same timeframe for 3- and 4-year-olds.

Children must be 4-years-old on or before Sept. 1 for full-day Head Start and Pre-Kindergarten. Children must meet federal guidelines or have a diagnosed disability for Head Start. Children must also be military dependents or meet USDA income guidelines for free and reduced lunch programs or speak limited English for pre-kindergarten. There is limited space for children who are 3-years-old by Sept. 1 who meet Head Start guidelines.

Parents must bring following items: Child's birth certificate, immunization record and social security card, proof of residency such as a utility bill, rent receipt, lease or mortgage agreement. Parents must also show proof of their most recent income for all adults living in the home. Proof can be a check stub, W-2, income tax return, social security printout, TANF printout, a letter from employer, or child support.

Military children must bring their identification card, sponsor orders or DD Form 1172. Free Immunizations will be provided by the Care Van and the Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing. Transportation to school from the nearest elementary school is available for eligible children. For more information call, Locust at 671-4569 and or Woodson at 671-4594.

Lost or stolen CAC
Effective March 30 if an individual loses or has a CAC stolen it must be reported to the 7th Security Forces Squadron.  For more information contact Mr. Plante at 696-5722.

Abilene area youth job fair
This job fair is for businesses looking to hire additional employees during the summer months, or for those who have an on-going need for part-time workers. Individuals interested must be 16 years old. 

The fair is April 2, at the Abiline Civic Center from 1 - 6 p.m.

Spread the word
Spread the word briefings will be at the base theater March 27 from 8:30 - 10 a.m. and 2 - 3:30 p.m.

Tax Center hour change
The Tax Center hours will change in the next couple of weeks as follows:
Open: March 28 8 a.m. - noon

Notice to commissary customers
Due to an extremely difficult economic environment, CertifiChecks, Inc. will no longer administer the Gift CertifiCheck program as of March 26. Similar to what is going on in the American economy today, this unfortunately affects our commissary customers.

Hearts Apart potluck dinner for families of deployed, remote and extended TDYs
The Dyess Key Spouses are holding a Hearts Apart Family potluck dinner March 26 at 6 p.m. at the Hangar Center. Children activities, door prizes for adults (free professional portrait/gift cards) and multiple agencies will be present to help entertain and support you during these long separations. World's Largest Barbecue April 18
The Abilene Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee has begun planning the 44th annual Armed Forces Banquet. The banquet, commonly known as the "World's Largest Barbecue," will be at the Abilene Civic Center, April 18. Tickets are available through unit first sergeants.

Commissioning briefings held second Wednesday of each month
There are commissioning briefings every second Wednesday of the month in the Education Center on the third floor of Bldg. 7232 in Room 304 at 2:30 p.m. Service members who are considering applying for a commission must attend at least one of these briefings before meeting with a counselor about commissioning.

· Dads 101 every 3rd week Wednesday through Friday 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Health and Wellness Center classroom
· Pre-marital Education Seminar (completion of class = $60 off Texas marriage licensing fees, dates vary)

Memorial Brick Program
The Memorial Brick Program is managed by the Team Dyess Top Three Association and offers you an opportunity to permanently honor veterans, spouses, children, grandchildren, anniversaries, graduations, birthdays, friends, or yourself. Chapel offers services, counseling and more
The 7th Bomb Wing Chapel seeks to ensure your Constitutional right to freedom of religion, and we strive to provide excellent spiritual help and encouragement for our military members and their families. Join us this weekend for worship or call on us for counseling, advice or prayer at 696-4224. For after-hours emergencies, call the Command Post at 696-1921 and ask for the duty chaplain. Chapel office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and Sunday 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
