7th Medical Group no-show policy Published June 17, 2011 7th Medical Group DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Effective Aug. 1, the 7th Medical Group will start sending no-show letters to first sergeants. The letter will state the active duty member's name, date and that the member failed to show for a medical appointment. For dependents, first sergeants will receive the number of dependents who failed to show for an appointment. No identifying information will be sent to first sergeants for dependents. A typical medical appointment costs approximately $300, including the doctors, nurses, technicians and administrative personnel's time, medical materiel, information technology, and personnel and resource management. On the surface, you may believe the loss doesn't affect you, until you can't get an appointment because all appointments are booked. No-show appointments are lost opportunities for medical care that you or another person might have really needed. Civilian providers may charge servicemembers and their dependents a fee if they do not show for an appointment. Although the 7 MDG does not charge a fee for a no-show appointment, it will be considered failure to show for a mandatory appointment. Please cancel appointments at least 24 hours in advance, or when the automated service calls to remind you of your appointment. The 7 MDG understands that "things happen" and there are circumstances that cause you to cancel appointments. Canceling appointments as early as possible will give the clinic an opportunity to fill these slots. For more information or to cancel an appointment, call (325) 696-4667 or logon to www.tricareonline.com.
