7th Bomb Wing History

The 7th Bomb Wing has a long and distinguished history. It has performed many missions and projected airpower around the globe. Initially activated as the 1st Army Observation Group Sept. 6, 1918, the group was stationed in France during World War I. The 1st earned battle honors for the Defense of the Lorraine Sector (Western Front) and for the Muese-Argonne Offensive (St. Mihiel). In April 1919, after World War I, the group inactivated. The group was reactivated Oct. 1, 1919, at Park Field, Tenn., and shortly thereafter, moved to Langley Field, Va. Redesignated the 7th Group (Observation), the unit participated in many of the "Mitchell Battleship Bombing Trials." By June 1, 1928, the group had moved to Rockwell Field, Calif.

air force global strike command (AFGSC)

Air Force Global Strike Command, activated Aug. 7, 2009, is a major command headquartered at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., in the Shreveport - Bossier City community. The mission of AFGSC is to develop and provide combat-ready forces for nuclear deterrence and global strike operations -- safe, secure, effective -- to support the President of the United States and Combatant Commander.

317th Airlift wing history

The 317th Airlift Wing has a distinguished history through its several forms and through several wars. Initially activated February 22, 1942, the then 317th Troop Carrier Group (TCG) was formed at Duncan Field, San Antonio, Texas, during World War II. On April 1, 1997, the 317th, now designated the 317th Airlift Group, returned to its state of origin when it was reactivated at Dyess Air Force Base, in Abilene, Texas. The 317th once more experienced a shift when it was activated as the 317th Airlift Wing on July 6, 2017.

The C-130J is the newest generation of the C-130 Hercules which primarily performs the tactical portion of the airlift mission. The aircraft is capable of operating from rough, dirt strips and is the prime transport for air dropping troops and equipment into hostile areas. The C-130 operates throughout the U.S. Air Force, serving with Air Mobility Command (stateside based), Air Force Special Operations Command, theater commands, Air National Guard and the Air Force Reserve Command, fulfilling a wide range of operational missions in both peace and war situations.

Air Mobility Command (AMC)

The official Air Mobility Command Shield. In accordance with Chapter 3 of Air Force Instruction 84-105, commercial reproduction of this emblem is NOT permitted without the permission of the proponent organizational/unit commander.Air Force Air Mobility Command activated June 1, 1992, with headquarters at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, and is one of 10 major Air Force commands. On Oct. 1, 2016, AMC consolidated with Military Air Command making AMC the oldest major command in the Air Force tracing its history to the establishment of the Air Corps Ferrying Command on May 29, 1941.  As the air component of the U.S. Transportation Command, AMC is comprised of a Total Force effort to execute Rapid Global Mobility and enable Global Reach –the ability to respond anywhere in the world in a matter of hours. This is accomplished through AMC’s four core mission areas – Airlift, Air Refueling, Air Mobility Support and Aeromedical Evacuation. AMC also provides support to the nuclear enterprise.

Employ the world's finest bomber:
Deploy, sustain, maintain and employ the proven and emerging combat capability of the B-1 to combatant commanders for employment worldwide.

Train the world's finest bomber crews:
Deliver trained B-1 aircrew (initial qualification, requalification and instructors) to operational wings for immediate transition to combat and AOC duty worldwide to employ the full range of B-1 capabilities. 

Support the joint fight anywhere in the world:
Deploy well trained and equipped Airmen, from all 7 BW technical specialties, to perform in support of overseas contingency operations. Ensure all wing Airmen are fully prepared to deploy as part of our Expeditionary Air Force.
