The Dyess AFB Honor Guard is responsible for many ceremonies:
Standard Honors Funeral: This is a service that is provided to a member who retired from the Air Force with at least 20 years of service. It consists of Pallbearers, flag fold, firing party, and the playing of taps. Funeral homes will need to fax us a copy of the DD 214 or Retired ID Card and a request form. We request at least 48 hour notice before so we may schedule.
Veteran Honors Funeral: This is a service that is provided to a member who separated from the Air Force under honorable conditions. It consists of a flag fold and the playing of taps. Funeral homes will need to fax a copy of the DD 214 and a request form. We request at least 48 hour notice before so we may schedule.
Other Ceremonies: The Honor Guard also provides many other details. They include, but are not limited to: parades, outdoor colors presence, military promotions, and military retirements. We request 2 weeks in advance notice to schedule these events. Please keep in mind that funeral honors is our primary mission and has priority over all other ceremonies.
