DYESS BIG COUNTRY AIR FEST UPDATE

Gates will open 1 May for the 2010 Dyess Big Country Airfest and Open House which will commence with a B-1B high speed pass at 10 a.m. All are invited to experience Dyess AFB and the Air Force way of life. Tye Gate on Military Drive will open at 8:30 a.m. for the public with opening ceremonies beginning at approximately 10 a.m.

This year's show will highlight the 25th Anniversary of the B-1B at Abilene and Dyess AFB and will feature the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron "Thunderbirds" in their 57th airshow season. Additional aerial demonstrations will include a bomber pass in review including a B-1B Lancer, B-17 Flying Fortress, B-24 Liberator, and a B-25 Mitchell.

Another highlight of the Airshow will be the Pearl Harbor attack re-enactment team, Tora! Tora! Tora!, with P-51 Mustang Gunfighter, F-4F Wildcat and P-40 Warhawk. Other demonstrations tentatively include: C-130 Hercules Air Drop Demo; C-130J Demo; F-16 Viper; F-15 Eagle and/or A-10 Thunderbolt II: PT-19; Stearman Wingwalker; T-33 "Old Thunderbird"; MiG-17; Breitling Cap 232; C-17/C-47 Heritage; and the USAFA Wings of Blue Parachute Jump Team.

Additional performances, static displays and other attractions will be announced in upcoming releases, and will also be posted on the Dyess Big Country Airfest website.
