Dyess leadership honors service during Memorial Day Ceremony
Members of the Dyess Air Force Base Honor Guard fire volleys during a Memorial Day ceremony at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, Texas, May 25, 2026. Historically, three volleys of rifle fire were fired in a combat environment to indicate that casualties had been cared for and fighting could resume; as time passed, these volleys became an official military custom during funeral and memorial services.
