A U.S. Air Force C-130J Super Hercules assigned to the 39th Airlift Squadron, takes off from Dyess Air Force Base, Texas to deliver food supplies to El Salvador in support of the Denton Program April 30, 2025. The Denton Program was created by Alabama Senator and former Vietnam Prisoner of War Jeremiah Denton in an amendment to the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961. The amendment provides the authority for the Department of Defense to use extra space on U.S. military cargo aircraft to transport humanitarian assistance materials donated by non-governmental organizations, international organizations, and private voluntary organizations for humanitarian relief.
