C-130J transports first Chilean Humvee during Southern Star 23
A Chilean Armed Forces Humvee is loaded onto a C-130J Super Hercules from the 39th Airlift Squadron out of the 317th Airlift Wing, Dyess AFB, TX on a runway at the Santiago de Chile Airport, Santiago, Chile, July 28, 2023, during exercise Southern Star 23. Exercise Southern Star 23 is a Chilean-led full-scale Special Operations, Joint, and Combined Employment Exercise. The training consists of staff planning, tactical maneuvers, and collaboration among SOUTHCOM components’ staff, Chilean Armed Forces, and interagency partners during a stabilization scenario which facilitates the opportunity for participants to execute and assess the staff’s ability to plan, coordinate and execute command and control, logistical support, and decision-making processes in a crisis scenario.
