Already a survivor: an Airman’s story of resiliency
U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Shamekia Toliver, 7th Civil Engineer Squadron commander, was diagnosed with breast cancer while stationed at Osan Air Base, Korea, May 23, 2014. During that time, she was the deputy commander for the 51st Civil Engineer Squadron, in which she fought hard to continue serving while undergoing two surgeries and 18 sessions of chemotherapy treatment during the course of a year.
