From boots on the ground to wings in the air
At the age of 26, U.S. Air Force Capt. Frank Zientek, 317th Airlift Group, began his studies toward receiving his officer’s commission in January 2005. He continued with minimal breaks for two-and-a-half years, doubling up on classes as he hunted Internet access at remote places around the world. Zientek now serves as a C-130 pilot and has flown multiple combat sorties in both Afghanistan and Iraq. (Courtesy photo)
