317th AG supports JFE, JAATT
U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Gregory Funk, 39th Airlift Squadron loadmaster, pulls static lines back into a C-130J Super Hercules after a static line parachute troop drop June 5, 2014, over Blackstone Army Airfield, Fort Pickett, Va. The 317th Airlift Group, from Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, provided airlift support for more than 500 82nd Airborne Division paratroopers on the 70th anniversary of D-Day. Before sunrise on June 6, 1944, allied paratroopers to include the 82nd Abn. Div., parachuted behind enemy lines beginning the invasion of Nazi controlled Europe.
