Prevention before protection
U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Christopher Johnston, 7th Civil Engineer Squadron fire prevention inspector, explains the use and importance of a fire extinguisher July 30, 2014, at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas. The purpose of teaching employees how to use the fire extinguisher is to prepare them to respond in the event of an actual fire. Across the Air Force, 90 percent of all fires are extinguished before the fire department arrives. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Autumn Velez/Released)
