DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Mary Davidson, Abilene’s Meek Blood Center blood bank technician, draws blood from Staff Sgt. Angel Rodriguez, 7th Maintenance Operations Squadron, during an on-base blood drive here Sept. 24. The Meek Blood Center supplies blood to 15 hospitals and medical facilities in a 12-county area. The base is currently trying to hold blood drives every eight weeks with the support of sponsors. Approximately 40,000 units of red cells are needed each day.
