DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas-- A Dyess Airman holds the original cover page of Charles Brown's collection of poems, "Bars from Bilibid Prison," June 2 at the Dyess Base Exchange here. Charles Brown was a Prisoner of War for three years in Bilibid prison Muntinlupa City, Philippines, during World War II. Charles Brown wrote 90 poems and kept them hidden from the Japanese throughout his imprisonment. According to Blair Howell, founder and present owner of the collection, the display of Brown's original poems at the base exchange will remain for a couple weeks. Colonel Robert Gass was given the opportunity to fly the C-130 J Super Hercules. DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas-- Members of the 436th Training Squadron assemble packages filled with donated school supplies for the Operation Iraqi Children program June 4 here. The program aids Iraqi schools and families who do not have access to basic academic supplies or equipment. ABILENE, Texas-- Airman 1st Class John Tomsich, 7th Operations Support Squadron air traffic controller, stacks bags of dog food at the Rescue the Animals, SPCA shelter June 7 here. Dyess Airmen had a dog food drive and accumulated roughly 3000 pounds of dog food they donated to the Rescue the Animals, SPCA shelter. They raised enough food to feed the animals for 10 weeks.
