Sparky advocates fire awareness

DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas—Children from the Dyess youth center play with Sparky here Oct. 5. The 7th Civil Engineer Squadron hosted a smokehouse, in base housing, that was open to the Dyess community for Fire Prevention Week. While going through the house, Airmen and their families learned techniques to use when a house is on fire for example: getting low and following a wall around the entire house that will eventually lead to an exit. Afterward, those who were interested were able to tour the firetruck and take photos with Sparky. Fire Prevention Week is Oct. 4-8. Other activities going on this week include random fire drills in the dorms, firefighters and Sparky visiting the Child Development Center and a firefighter challenge course.
