DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas--Staff Sgt. Daniel Newland, 7th Civil Engineer Squadron firefighter, helps a Merkel Elementary student down from a firetruck at the Fire Department here Oct. 8. Firefighters from the 7 CES gave kindergarteners from Merkel Elementary a tour of the fire department. Students also were given demonstrations by the dog handlers at the K-9 unit. Dyess hosts tours throughout the year that are open to the public. Merkel tours Dyess
