Dyess honors fallen Airman

DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas – Dyess firefighters pose Dec. 14 by a new sign honoring one of Dyess’ fallen Airmen at the cantonment area here. The cantonment area, used to host exercises and training sessions, has been renamed in honor of Staff Sgt. Ray Rangel, a 7th Civil Engineer firefighter who lost his life Feb. 13, 2005, at the age of 29, while on a rescue mission in Balad, Iraq. Sergeant Rangel was awarded the Bronze Star Medal Feb. 16, 2005, for his meritorious achievements while deployed. (U.S Air Force photo/ Airman 1st Class Shannon Hall)
