Medal of Honor ceremony honors fallen Airman
DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas – Chief Master Sgt. Douglas McIntyre, 7th Bomb Wing command chief, and Col. Brian Donahoo, 7th Bomb Wing vice commander, unveil a plaque March 11 honoring Chief Master Sgt. Richard Loy Etchberg, during a Medal of Honor ceremony held at the Dyess Medal of Honor Memorial here. Chief Etchberg was a Senior NCO in the U.S. Air Force who posthumously received the military’s highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his actions during the Battle of Lima Site 85 in the Vietnam War. The medal was formally presented to his three sons by President Barack Obama during a ceremony at the White House on Sept. 21, 2010. (U.S. Air Force photo/ Airman 1st Class Courtney Moses)
