Police Week honors Defenders
U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Timothy Castillo, 7th Security Forces Squadron (SFS), shows his son, Jayce Castillo, how to properly aim down the sights of an M-4 Carbine May 14, 2013, during National Police Week at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. The week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. The 7th SFS held a jail-and-bail fundraiser, vehicle display, weapons display and bike rodeo throughout the week. They also held a retreat ceremony to honor and remember security forces members that have made the ultimate sacrifice. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Damon Kasberg/ Released)
