317th MOS deactivates
U.S. Air Force Col. Walter H. Ward, 317th Airlift Group commander, accepts the 317th Maintenance Operations Squadron (MOS) guidon from Maj. Christopher Fontana, 317th MOS commander, during a deactivation ceremony May 16, 2013, at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas. MOSs Air Force-wide are scheduled to be inactivated by the end of the fiscal year in an effort to better align field and company grade officer positions with operational requirements. The 317th MOS was active from April 1, 1997 to May 16, 2013. While the 317th MOS is being deactivated, its functions will continue as a designated flight, aligned under the 317th Maintenance Squadron.
