A U.S. Air Force Airman from the 317th Airlift Group marshals-in the newest C-130J May 22, 2013, at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas. Dyess has received 27 of 28 J-models, replacing the legacy fleet of the C-130 H-models. The C-130J is the newest generation of the C-130 Hercules which primarily performs the tactical portion of the airlift mission. The aircraft is capable of operating from rough, dirt strips and is the primary transport for air dropping troops and equipment into hostile areas.
