Dyess avionics backshop shuts down
DYESS AFB, TX -- Colonel Kevin Jackson, 317th Airlift Group commander, flips a switch to deactivate power to the avionics backshop Dec. 18. The avionics shop will no longer repair avionics equipment in the backshop setting. Instead, they will be relocated to the flightline where they are needed to support the mission. More than 125 man hours were into the flight. According to Maj. Tracey Silfies, 317th Maintenance Squadron commander, "the Air Force is making a step forward in the maintenance world by shifting resourses to the flightline where their experience is needed."
