DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The 2016 Combined Federal Campaign began Sept. 26 and will continue through Nov. 4.
The mission of the CFC is to provide all federal employees the opportunity to support causes in a focused, cost-efficient and effective way.
“This year’s motto, ‘Show Some Love,’ recognizes the service and sacrifices for the nation while representing an underlying concept,” said Tech. Sergeant Josee McVadon, 7th Medical Group CFC wing point of contact. “There is always a positive impact a donation will have for every receiving agency, regardless of the amount.”
The CFC is the world’s largest workplace charity campaign, raising millions of dollars each year. Last year’s campaign raised more than $177 million donated by federal employees worldwide.
“Last year, The Greater West Texas CFC, including contributions from Dyess’, raised $184,738.40,” McVadon said. “Nearly 500 local, national and international charities benefited from those donations.”
The CFC is the only on-the-job fundraising campaign authorized by Congress and the President of the United States for not only the military, but federal civilians and the United States Postal Service. Each member can support up to five of the more than 18,000 eligible charities.
Dyess’ goal for the 2016 campaign is to raise $120,000 by Nov. 4. Dyess unit POC’s are implementing various strategies to reach 100 percent of the populace and make this goal a success.
“Contacts and training were made within all of the units, and opportunities and ideas are given for each one to conduct events within their area,” McVadon said. “Every squadron is different, so it is up to them how they spread the word.”
Who better than those that serve their country to know about service and sacrifice? According to Col. David Benson, 7th Bomb Wing commander, it is who we are.
“While we all volunteer to serve our country, the CFC provides another avenue of service. Your small donation could bring families health, happiness, and safety; things that we tend to take for granted and are truly priceless,” Benson said. “Service…it is who we are…it is what we do.”
Active Duty members and federal employees have the opportunity to donate with cash, check, or payroll allotment through their squadron representatives or First Sgts.
