Dyess 2014 Courts Martial

The military justice system is a commander's program designed to support good order and discipline in the unit and to ensure mission accomplishment.  One important aspect of the military justice system is the court-martial process.  It is used for serious violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). 

The following Airmen assigned to Dyess Air Force Base were court-martialed in 2014 for violations of the UCMJ:

A 317th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron Technical Sergeant was tried by Special Court-Martial and convicted of one Charge and one Specifications of dereliction of duty.  Punishment consisted of hard labor without confinement for 10 days.

A 317th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron Senior Airman was tried by Special Court-Martial and convicted of one Charge and two Specifications of wrongful use of cocaine.  Punishment consisted of reduction to E-2, restriction to base for 45 days, hard labor without confinement for 45 days, and a reprimand.

A 7th Civil Engineer Squadron Airman Basic was tried by Special Court-Martial and convicted of one Charge and one Specification of failure to go, one Charge and one Specification of dereliction of duty, one Charge and one Specification of driving while intoxicated, and one Charge and one Specification of drunk while on duty.  Punishment consisted of confinement for 14 days, 15 days hard labor without confinement, restriction to base for 15 days, and forfeiture of $1,000.00 pay.

A 7th Equipment Maintenance Squadron Airman Basic was tried by Special Court-Martial and convicted of one Charge and one Specification of failure to go, and one Charge and one Specification of breaking restriction.  Punishment consisted of confinement for 37 days, restriction to base for 60 days, forfeiture of $1,021.00 pay per month for two months, and a reprimand.

A 7th Logistics Readiness Squadron Airman was tried by Special Court-Martial and convicted of one Charge and two Specifications of wrongful use of cocaine and oxycodone.  Punishment consisted of a bad conduct discharge.

A 7th Logistics Readiness Squadron Senior Airman was tried by a General Court-Martial and convicted of one Charge and eight Specifications of willful dereliction of duty, one Charge and three Specifications of false official statement, and one Charge and seven Specifications of aggravated assault.  Punishment consisted of a dishonorable discharge, 49 months confinement, forfeiture of all pay and allowances, and reduction to E-1.

A 7th Logistics Readiness Squadron Technical Sergeant was tried by General Court-Martial and convicted of one Charge and three Specifications of aggravated sexual contact, an additional Charge and Specification of aggravated sexual contact, one Charge and two Specifications of Sodomy, an additional Charge and Specification of Sodomy, and one Charge and two Specifications of indecent action or liberties with a child.  Punishment consisted of dishonorable discharge, confinement for 34 years, reduction to E-1, total forfeitures, and a reprimand.

A 7th Operations Support Squadron Major was tried by General Court-Martial and convicted of one Charge and one Specification of larceny.  Punishment consisted of dismissal from the service and a fine of $10,000.00.

A 7th Security Forces Squadron Senior Airman was tried by Special Court-Martial and convicted of one Charge and one Specification of failure to obey a lawful order, one Charge and one Specification of dereliction of duty, one Charge and two Specifications of destroying or damaging non-military property, one Charge and one Specification of assault consummated by a battery, and one Charge and two Specifications of burglary.  Punishment consisted of a suspended reduction to E-3, and two months of hard labor without confinement.

A 7th Security Forces Squadron Staff Sergeant was tried by Special Court-Martial and convicted of one Charge and one Specification of wrongful use of cocaine.  Punishment consisted of reduction to E-1, and four months of confinement.
