Dyess Airman killed in motorcycle accident

An Airman assigned to the 7th Equipment Maintenance Squadron at Dyess Air Force Base was killed in a motorcycle accident on State Highway 351 in Abilene, May 10, 2015, at approximately 3 p.m.

The name of the deceased is being withheld until 24 hours after the next of kin have been notified.

Emergency responders included officials from the Abilene Police and Fire Departments, Metrocare and the Taylor County Sheriff's office. Representatives from Dyess also reported to the scene.

"Any time we lose a member of our Air Force family, it is a sad and tragic day," said Col. Michael Bob Starr, 7th Bomb Wing commander. "My sincerest condolences and prayers go out to those who will mourn this loss with us."

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Abilene Police Department.
