An Airman assigned to the 7th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Dyess Air Force Base was pronounced dead at University Hospital on June 6, 2015.

Senior Airman Leanne Locascio was transported from Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene to University Hospital in Lubbock, to be treated for injuries suffered from a single-vehicle motorcycle accident on FM 126 near Mulberry Canyon, approximately 15 miles outside of Abilene. Locascio was participating in a group motorcycle ride at around 11:15 a.m. June 6, when she lost control on a curve in the road and was thrown from her motorcycle.

Locascio was an experienced rider, a graduate of both the Basic and Advanced Rider Course, and was wearing personal protective equipment at the time of the accident, according to the 7th Bomb Wing Safety Office.

The incident is still under investigation.

Locascio, 25, was assigned to the 7th Logistics Readiness Squadron at Dyess Air Force Base as a B-1 aircraft parts store apprentice, on Dec. 31, 2011. In June 2014, she was permanently reassigned to the 7th AMXS.

"Leanne was a wonderful and inspiring Airman," said Master Sgt. Brandy Wess, 7th LRS first sergeant. "She will be missed tremendously by her Team LRS family."

"It pains me to see so many of our Airmen grieving the loss of our teammate," said Master Sgt. William Alty, 7th AMXS assistant first sergeant. "Yet, it is a testament to the wonderful person she was. She was a dedicated Airman, and very personable. She was well-liked and regarded highly by her peers and the squadron's senior leaders alike."

"My most heartfelt condolences go out to Leanne's family and friends during this difficult time. She was a valuable member of the Team Dyess family and will be greatly missed by all," said Maj. John Adams, Jr., 7th AMXS commander.

Locascio is survived by her husband, Remy Locascio, of Abilene.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
