The military has many traditions which play an important role in building morale, cohesion and esprit de corps. One of these long time traditions is the Dining Out, a formal military dinners that includes civilian family members and friends.

This year, Dyess enlisted members will host their 24th Enlisted Dining Out. The event will be hosted Sept. 15 at Abilene Civic Center located at 1100 North 6th Street. Cocktails begin at 6 p.m., and the mess begins at 6:30 p.m. The theme for this year's Dining Out is, "Combat Airmen ...yesterday, today and tomorrow."

Members of the Dining Out committee collected military items from the past, present and future for display during the Dining Out.

"We are very excited about this year's event...and with the recent deployment of many of our Dyess personnel, it seemed appropriate to set the theme of the event to Combat Airmen," said Master Sgt. Terry Montrose, the coordinator for this year's Dining Out.

Air Force military customs and courtesies form a unique culture which creates a special bond and fraternity amongst members. The Enlisted Dining Out is one opportunity to include civilian spouses, friends, and special guests to experience some military traditions.

The uniform for military members is mess-dress or semi-formal and evening attire for civilians. Ticket cost is $15 for E-4 and below and $20 for E-5 and above. Contact a unit first sergeant to purchase tickets by Sept. 6.
