Leadership Texas visits Dyess Published Aug. 29, 2007 By Senior Airman Joel Mease 7th Bomb Wing Public Affairs DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- More than 100 women who are business and community leaders from across Texas visited here Aug. 27 as part of the Leadership Texas program. The program provides education and training to women to improve to help make a better impact in the local community, state and the nation. According to the Foundation for Women's Resources, Leadership Texas focuses on enhancing their leadership skills and knowledge of the state so they are prepared to seize greater leadership opportunities. The program is an incredibly competitive training session to join, but it is well worth the time, said Celia Davis, Abilene Military Affairs Committee chairwoman. Mrs. Davis, an alumni of the Leadership Texas Program, said the program visits five cities each year and focuses on multiple impacts like business, environment, education and technology of each city. "The program has been to Dyess before, and it has always been a favorite of the women who attend," Mrs. Davis said. "It's so popular that several alumni of Leadership Texas joined as well. Overall, the women with us are truly impressed with the level of professionalism and dedication the Airmen have here." Also making the tour and headlining their lunch program was Dr. Lani Kass, special assistant to the chief of staff, U.S. Air Force, and director of the CSAF's Cyberspace Task Force, Washington D.C. Doctor Kass' speech focused on the Global War on Terrorism and the nation's role on combating the terrorist threat.
