More than 400 Team Dyess Airmen participated in the 4th annual Dyess Olympics held Nov. 16 competing in events ranging from a triathlon to bowling.

"We had a very successful Olympics with outstanding participation from across the base," said Tech. Sgt. Marty Branch, 7th Services Squadron programs director.

The Dyess Olympics started four years ago to help promote the fit-to-fight model with a fun twist, Sergeant Branch said.

"The event is held in the fall, because we often forget to exercise when it gets colder outside so it serves as a nice reminder for us," Sergeant Branch said. "Not only do the Airmen get to exercise, but they can have doing it."

One of the more interesting events during the day was the golf tournament.

"It was a shotgun start, so we had more than 120 people out on the golf course at once," Sergeant Branch said. "It's not too often you see that many people playing golf at once."

Other events included 5K run, dodge ball, paintball, bowling, golf, triathlon, three-on-three basketball and walleyball.
