B-1 WEAPONS LOADERS COMPETE FOR ‘BEST OF THE BEST’ Published April 3, 2008 7th Bomb Wing Public Affairs DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Two load crews, who are responsible for loading bombs on B-1 aircraft, will compete for honors as "best of the best" on Dyess Friday. The annual competition pits two four-person crews against each other in a timed event to see who can load weapons in the most accurate, fastest and safest way. Each load crew will be assigned one B-1, and both crews will begin at the same time. Load crews are also graded on their dress and appearance, a knowledge test and an inspection of their Composite Tool Kit. Both crews begin at noon Friday. The competition will last approximately 45 minutes, but the winner won't be announced until a date to be determined.
