Balad servicemembers mark milestone in decreasing convoys, saving lives
BALAD AIR BASE, Iraq -- Servicemembers exit a C-130 Hercules here, May 10. The 777th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron personnel estimate they have prevented approximately 10,000 convoy vehicles and about 27,000 servicemembers from traveling along improvised explosive device laden Iraqi roads since the squadron stood up in January 2006. This was accomplished by providing air transport via C-130 aircraft, the 'work horse' of the Air Force fleet. (U.S. Air Force photo/ Senior Airman Julianne Showalter)
