AF club member wins $1,000
DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- George Salazar, 19, a sophomore at Cisco Jr. College, is awarded a $1,000 Air Force scholarship Oct. 7 by Maj. Nolan Corpuz, 7th Force Support Squadron commander. Only twenty-five individuals were selected to receive the scholarship through the Air Force Club Membership Scholarship Program this year. Club members and their families were given the opportunity to submit a 500-word essay on “The most important person in my life.” Essays were chosen by each participating base. George is the son of Master Sgt. George Salazar, a 317th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron C-130 maintainer. Young George plans to use the money to buy books for the five classes he is taking this semester. He holds a 3.5 grade point average. Sergeant Saldazar said this award proves that “being a club member pays!” For more information on joining the Club, and for a chance to participate in next year's essay contest, contact Jim Nichols, Dyess' Club manager.
