Expect delays on Military Drive Published Oct. 15, 2008 DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Construction started Oct. 11 on a $4.7 million upgrade to Military Drive, which parallels the base's northern perimeter from Arnold Blvd. to just past the Tye Gate. This construction is scheduled to continue through October 2009. Even though traffic will be maintained in both directions throughout the project, some phases of construction will significantly reduce traffic flow. Starting on or about Oct. 20, construction will begin on structures that cross the existing road. This phase is expected to last for approximately six weeks, and during this period significant delays can be expected particularly in the west bound lane from Arnold Blvd. to the Tye gate. Personnel at Dyess may want to avoid using the Tye Gate during this period - particularly in the mornings.
