Dormitory residents recently attended a town hall meeting to discuss the upcoming refurbishing projects.

The 21 projects, which were recently approved and funded by Air Combat Command, include core key locks, security cameras, fire suppression system repairs, interior finishing, flooring, furniture accessories, frost-free appliances, and repairs and upgrades to the outdoor decks. Ten dormitories will receive upgrades, which will affect more than 750 residents over the next 12 months.

Residents can not occupy a building during the painting and carpeting portion and will have to temporiarly move to another dormitory.

According to 1st Lt. Natalie Ferson, 7th Civil Engineers Squadron, who gave the briefing to dorm residents, Airmen need to move on time. If they do not, the government can be charged for time lost due to the hold up.

Each dormitory is expected to take approximately a month to complete. In order to keep the refurbishing contracts moving on time, residents and commanders need to stick with the phased program planned for completing the improvements.

Schedule for repairs are as follows:
November - Gaylor Dormitory
December - McCoy Dormitory
January - Barnes Dormitory
February - Harlow Dormitory
March - Kisling Dormitory
May - Andrews Dormitory
June - Parish Dormitory
July - Binnicker Dormitory
Auguast - Pfingston Dormitory
September - Campanale Dormitory

When Airmen are notified of their move, they will need to go to the dorm manager. Airmen can have the Transporation Management Office move their belongings or do it themselves. Do-It-Yourself moves are reimbursable, but Airmen still need to go through their dorm managers, the housing office and TMO.

Airmen electing to have TMO move their belongings to the next dormitory must be present at the time of the move or get a Power of Attorney for another person to be present during the move.

Airmen who will be deployed during the month their dormitory is scheduled for repairs and upgrades must inform the dorm managers so arrangements can be made to store items. A minimum of 30 days' notice must be given to the dorm managers.

For approved volunteers, Quail Hollow is also offering two-person units. Each member will have separate bedrooms and bathrooms. For eligibility requirements and applications, visit the Housing Office or call 696-2150.

CES will be working closely with first sergeants to keep dormitory residents informed of changes.
