Despite freezing temperatures, 7th Logistics Readiness Squadron Airmen stayed motivated and energized throughout the Operational Readiness Inspection here Jan. 5-6.
"They had the right focus, attitude and energy," said Lt. Col. Tony Marlowe, 7th LRS commander. "They did a superb job."

The LRS team had Airmen working hard across the base before and during the ORI.
"We had a big play in this," said Colonel Marlowe. Although the DCC was the only element that was being inspected, for the entire machine to work LRS has to be involved, he said.

Working two 12 hour shifts, LRS Airmen were responsible for inspecting cargo, controlling personnel and cargo and ensuring they processed on time without any discrepenices, they ensured all deployable equipment was properly managed prior to deployment, transported passengers and cargo to the deployment control center, provided fuel support to the aircraft and supported the generation and regeneration of the aircraft, cargo and personnel.

Overall, the team processed 502 people and 295 short tons of cargo and four of six aircraft were generated and regenerated. They also had to demonstrate loading cargo on a simulated aircraft using a K-loader.

"My people responded correctly. We had no documentation errors on nine chalks of cargo," he said.

When their system went down, the LRS team was unable to get the cargo labels done on time for the inspector but choose not to rush, said Colonel Marlowe. "Instead of rushing, we did the paperwork right. We get cargo ready and get people out of town - that's our mission," he said. "When it comes to deployment it's about getting folks to the war."

That's why getting feedback from the inspector is so important, the colonel added. "So when it comes time, we can do our job."

The team received good feedback, said the colonel. They had two minor areas needing improvement and one strength. "The inspector was very impressed with the load safety briefings," he said. "All teams did a great job from the in-checkers, to the DCC, load team, CDF, fuels management, the joint inspectators to the consodidated management operatons systems and vehicle operators. They did a superb job with a quiet confidence."
