Guidelines created for supervision of children Published Feb. 11, 2009 By Staff Sgt. Joel Mease 7th Bomb Wing Public Affairs DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The Dyess Force Support Squadron has recently created new supervision guidelines for children of servicemembers under the age of 18. The guidelines were written to ensure there is no question as to when a child can be left by themselves or supervise other siblings, said Ms. Diane Bradley, 7th FSS Family Advocacy Program Assistant. "These programs set a standard for everyone to follow," she said. "Failure to comply with these guidelines could result in a child maltreatment case with Family Advocacy." To view the new guidelines visit www.dyess.af.mil/guidelines.asp "The guidelines apply to all servicemembers living off-base as well as on-base," Ms. Bradley said. "These guidelines are put in place to ensure your child's safety - not to counter (a servicemember's) rights as a parent." To help parents with meeting the guidelines Dyess offers many programs for servicemembers. Among the things available are programs the Child Development Center and Youth Center offer for parents when they go to work or have an appointment. The Red Cross and Youth Center also offer babysitting training. Besides these programs, parents can find many other activities available for parents from the Family Advocacy office.
