Brazil to face Barbados in CISM championship; United States vs. Suriname in 3rd place match Published Feb. 26, 2009 7th Bomb Wing Public Affairs DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The final match of the 2009 CISM Continental Championship will be held at Shotwell Stadium at 11 a.m. Feb. 27, featuring an undefeated Brazilian team facing Barbados, who only has one loss. A third place game between the United States and Suriname will take place at 9 a.m. Brazil has dominated all of its opponents throughout the tournament winning all of its matches by an average of just over 4 points a game. "It's been a very hard, tough competition," said Lt. Col. Davi De Souza, Brazil head coach. "All the teams have been well prepared and it's been a great pleasure for us to play here." Barbados, Brazil's competitor for the championship features a grudge match for the country after losing to Brazil 5-1 earlier. However, Barbados is not to be taken lightly after defeating the Canadians 8-0 Feb. 25. "Barbados is an exciting team, which should make for a great game," said Lt. Col. De Souza. "We are very conscious of how important it is to try to win this tournament again." Team Barbados consists of 18 military members, or more than three-percent of its nation's defense force. Multiple Barbados team members are also eligible to play on the national team. A closing ceremony will be held immediately following the final match Feb. 27.
