Dyess Warrior of the Week Published March 18, 2009 SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Tech. Sgt. Tamela Sanders Job: Administrative assistant to the commander for the 386th Expeditionary Operations Group and NCOIC, communications and information management Home unit/base: 7th Operations Group, deployed to 386th Expeditionary Operations Group How do you support the mission here? I am responsible for all administrative support to the commander, deputy commander, executive officer and flight commanders. As needed, I also provide administrative assistance to the C-17 mission. To date, I have processed 100 Air Medals to Air Force Central Command; expediting coordination when necessary to meet a member's promotion board or test cycle. How many times have you deployed and what makes this one unique? This is my third deployment. Professionally, it is unique because I am working and learning the mission impact of the C-130s. Personally, it is unique because I am the mother of a toddler. How does your job differ in a deployed environment vs. home base? The fundamentals of the jobs are similar, but vastly different is other areas. Learning the lingo, mission and operations of the C-130 has been a great experience; what a fantastic crew and leadership to work with!
