Dyess Warrior of the Week Published April 14, 2009 DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- This week's warrior is Senior Airman Michael Wykes. Unit: 436 TS/ DOMPT Job title: Instructional media designer Job description and its impact on the overall mission: To produce, shoot and edit ACC training videos used in numerous career fields as training devices vital to the overall success of the Air Force mission. Time in the military: 4 years, 3 months Time at Dyess: 9 months Family: Wife: Nichole, Sons: Christopher (3) and Nathaniel (8 Months) Hometown: Pensacola, Fla. Why did you join the military?: Because I loved the experiences I had as a military dependant, and I wanted to be able to share the same kind of life with my family. Where do you see yourself in 10 or 20 years: I consider myself a lifer so hopefully still in the Air Force. If not, then doing something I enjoy that pays the bills. What do you do for fun here? Mostly spending time with my family. What's your favorite Air Force memory or story? When my dad retired he gave me the stripes off his uniform and told me that I could go even further than he had if I continued in my dedication to the Air Force. Now those senior master sergeant stripes sit on my desk to remind me that someone believes in me and is behind all of my successes. What accomplishment are you most proud of? My children. Who are your role models? My dad, for serving his country proudly for 23 years in the Air Force, and for always making sure that his kids had every opportunity available to them no matter what.
