The 7th Force Support Squadron conducted its first home station readiness training April 15-17 to prepare its members for future deployments and Air Force exercises.

The 7th FSS, which formed last year from the 7th Services Squadron and 7th Mission Support Squadron gave career fields in services, personnelists, and manpower their first opportunity to train as a team in a scenario to help build a bare base, said Master Sgt. Sean Moseley, 7th FSS Prime Readiness in Base Services manager.

The training consisted of two days of class room work and one day of a field exercise to put their new found skills to work. The field exercise went over operations such as shelter set up, field feeding operations, field mortuary operations and other bare-base essentials.

While most deployments Airmen find are to location where they have already reached the sustainment phase, the reality is any Airman could find themselves anywhere in the world.

"It's important for the squadron to train for bare-base operations," Master Sgt. Moseley said. "Most people here about are steady state bases when they deploy, where all the services are already in place. However, you never know when you will deploy to a bare base or forward deploy to one."

While most of the information is a refresher for a majority of the Airmen who participated, it can help set the team up for success in the future.

"I think it gives them more confidence to go over the scenarios," Master Sgt. Moseley said. "If they run into the same situation in the AOR, they know they will be able handle it. That's ultimately what I strive for."
