Airmen receive nonjudical punishment Published May 7, 2009 DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The military justice system is a commander's program designed to support good order and discipline in the unit and to ensure mission accomplishment. When commanders decide to impose nonjudicial punishment, they can choose from a variety of punishments. For enlisted members, the list includes reduction in rank, forfeiture of pay, restriction, extra duties and a reprimand. At some Air Force installations, correctional custody is also an option. Officers could receive forfeiture of pay, arrest in quarters, restriction, and a reprimand. While the facts of some offenses appear similar, commanders take into account the member's duty performance, attitude, potential and disciplinary history, such as previous counselings, reprimands or nonjudicial punishments. The following Airmen assigned to Dyess Air Force Base received an Article 15 between 15 March 2009 and 30 April 2009: A 7th Component Maintenance Squadron senior airman accepted an Article 15 for willful dereliction of duty. Punishment consisted of a suspended reduction to the grade of airman first class, forfeiture of $200.00 pay per month for two months, suspended forfeitures in excess of $100.00, suspended 45 days of extra duty, and a reprimand. A 7th Component Maintenance Squadron staff sergeant accepted an Article 15 for willful dereliction of duty. Punishment consisted of a reduction to the grade of senior airman, suspended forfeiture of $200.00 pay per month for two months, suspended 45 days of extra duty, and a reprimand. A 7th Component Maintenance Squadron airman first class accepted an Article 15 for making a false official statement and wrongful appropriation of property worth $500.00 or less. Punishment consisted of a reduction to the grade of airman, suspended forfeiture of $100.00 pay per month for two months, 45 days of extra duty, and a reprimand. A 7th Equipment Maintenance Squadron airman first class accepted an Article 15 for absenting himself from his place of duty. Punishment consisted of a reduction to the grade of Airman, a suspended reduction to the grade of airman basic, forfeiture of $150.00 pay per month for two months, 30 days of extra duty, and a reprimand. A 7th Equipment Maintenance Squadron airman first class accepted an Article 15 for absenting himself from his place of duty and willful dereliction of duty. Punishment consisted of a suspended reduction to the grade of airman, forfeiture of $150.00 pay per month for two months, 30 days of extra duty, and a reprimand. A 7th Logistics Readiness Squadron senior airman accepted an Article 15 for willful dereliction of duty. Punishment consisted of a reduction to the grade of technical sergeant. A 7th Maintenance Operations Squadron staff sergeant accepted an Article 15 for willful dereliction of duty. Punishment consisted of a suspended reduction to the grade of senior airman and 14 days of extra duty. A 7th Mission Support Group airman first class accepted an Article 15 for absenting herself from her place of duty. Punishment consisted of a suspended reduction to the grade of airman and a reprimand. A 7th Munitions Squadron staff sergeant accepted an Article 15 for absenting himself from his place of duty and drunkenness in that he was incapacitated to perform his duties. Punishment consisted of a suspended reduction to the grade of senior airman and forfeiture of $100.00 pay. A 7th Munitions Squadron airman first class accepted an Article 15 for absenting himself from his place of duty and willful dereliction of duty. Punishment consisted of a suspended reduction to the grade of airman, forfeiture of $212.00 pay, and 14 days of extra duty. A 317th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron airman first class accepted an Article 15 for making a false official statement and reckless driving resulting in injury. Punishment consisted of a suspended reduction to the grade of airman, suspended forfeiture of $784.00 pay per month for two months, restriction to the limits of Dyess Air Force Base for 30 days, and a reprimand. A 317th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron staff sergeant accepted an Article 15 for willful dereliction of duty and making a false official statement. Punishment consisted of a suspended reduction to the grade of senior airman, forfeiture of $1109.00 pay per month for two months, suspended 30 days of extra duty, and a reprimand. A 317th Maintenance Squadron senior airman accepted an Article 15 for absenting himself from his place of duty. Punishment consisted of a suspended reduction to the grade of airman first class, suspended forfeitures of $150.00 pay, 30 days of extra duty, and a reprimand. A 712th Air Support Operations Squadron staff sergeant accepted an Article 15 for absenting himself from his place of duty. Punishment consisted of a suspended reduction to the grade of senior airman, 30 days of extra duty, and a reprimand.
