The Dyess Information Protection office moved recently from the 7th Security Forces Squadron to the 7th Bomb Wing Headquarters Room 138.

The move was necessitated to separate information protection from security forces Air Force wide, as they need to remain combat focused as a globally deployable force. The move from the 7th SFS to wing headquarters just completed the move, said Ron Membrila, 7th BW Information Protection chief.

In November 2008 Air Force Chief of Staff Norton Schwartz directed to all major commands and wings to establish an information protection office and staff to perform the duties related to information, personnel and industrial security programs.

While the change may seem like a lot to take in, the office is still providing the support customers at Dyess have expected and needed before.

"We're still doing the same job, but now we just have a better focus," Mr. Membrila said.
One of the items the office handles for Dyess customers is security investigation paperwork active duty members, and those applying for NAF and GS jobs.

Besides safeguarding information at Dyess, the office is willing to provide other unique services to servicemembers and their dependents.

"We also offer finger printing for those wishing to apply for a concealed carry license and fingerprinting for those who are applying for federal jobs," Mr. Membrila said.
