ACU hosts military appreciation day Aug. 27 Published Aug. 18, 2009 DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Abilene Christian University hosts a military appreciation day Aug. 27 as the Wildcats face off against Northwest Missouri State University during a nationally televised game. The game starts at 7 p.m. and is located at Shotwell Stadium, Abilene. Tickets areĀ free for all military active duty, retiree, GS/civilian employees and families with a valid military ID, and are available at the ITT office located in the Hangar Center. Pregame activities begin at 5 p.m. and include music, jump castles and other family friendly activities. The ACU-sponsored tailgate party beginning at 5 p.m. in the west parking lot is open to the public and the food is free. However, donations will be accepted with the money going to benefit both the NCAA Division II Make-A-Wish Foundation and the family of 3-year-old Tatum Flaming, who was recently diagnosed with leukemia.The Dyess Honor Guard will present the colors. Col. Kenneth R. Tatum Jr., 7th Bomb Wing vice commander, will be presented a game ball and participate in the opening coin toss. ACU also offers All-Sport Passes regularly priced at $125 to military ID card holders for $75. All-Sport Passes will get up to four people into all ACU regular season home athletic contests.
