Warrior of the Week Published Sept. 25, 2009 DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- This week's Warrior of the Week is Airman 1st Class Nicholas P. Olson. Unit: 7th Operations Support Squadron Job title: Aircrew Flight Equipment Apprentice Job description and its impact on the overall mission: I inspect and maintain aircrew equipment and survival items for the B-1 aircrew to help them survive if the aircraft fails. Time in the military: 14 months Time at Dyess: 9 months Family: Mother, Kim; father, Steve; and brothers James and Garrett Hometown: Washington, D.C. Why did you join the military? I joined the military to be able to attend college classes and to travel and see the world Where do you see yourself in 10 or 20 years? In 10 years I see myself married with a family and hopefully working on a successful career in the movie industry. What do you do for fun here? I enjoy playing pool in my free time, going out to different restaurants in the local area and enjoying time with my friends. What's your favorite Air Force memory or story? Basic military training and all the experiences I had there would be my favorite Air Force memories so far. Meeting people from other places around the United States, Warrior Week and too many other memorable highlights to list. What accomplishment are you most proud of? Being recognized by the Air Combat Command leadership during our recent staff assistance visit for flight. The work I have done with the aircrew chemical defense equipment in my section is very important to me. I know the aircrew can rely on my equipment if it is needed in a wartime chemical environment. Who are your role models? My mother is one of my biggest role models because even though she is facing a losing battle with breast cancer, she still manages to maintain a positive outlook on life.
