Toolboxes save money
DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas – Senior Airman Drew Williams and Staff Sgt. Larry Walders, 317th Maintenance Squadron crew chiefs, train on new electronic toolboxes with Jay Mullis, IDZ Technologies, here Nov. 19. The new electronic toolboxes were first introduced 3 years ago and are designed for specialty tools. Airmen will sign out tools by swiping their Common Access Card, which will help prevent the loss of tools and reduce FOD. Dyess purchased 11 new toolboxes since 2008 and plans to purchase 14 more in the future. These toolboxes save 25 man-hours a day, and $35 per man-hour per toolbox.
