Through the posting of the colors, the playing of the National Anthem, by the words shared by official party, through the command of "officers face" and by Col. Dan P. Dagher accepting the 317th Airlift Group organizational flag, a new commander was consummated.

"Who wouldn't be excited to lead such a phenomenal team of professionals that can provide time sensitive responsiveness with tactical airlift anywhere on the planet, said Col. Dan Dagher, 317th Airlift Group Commander. "Add to that being a part of Team Dyess and the support provided by the 7th Bomb Wing and it is obvious to see, the 317th Airlift Group has been set up for success."

Colonel Dagher is now responsible for the largest airlift group in Air Mobility Command, which has had members deployed since 2003.

"We look forward to taking care of the mission, but also the Air Force's most valuable asset, the men and women and their families, that make success a reality," Colonel Dagher said.

The 317 AG is preparing to transition from the C-130 Hercules to the brand new C-130J model aircrafts, which are scheduled to arrive in April.
