LRS works hard for the Dyess Big Country Airfest Published May 5, 2010 By A1C Brittney Prescott 7th Bomb Wing Public Affairs DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The 7th Logistics Readiness Squadron had their hands full May 1 during the Dyess Big Country Airfest here in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the delivery of the first B-1 Bomber to Dyess. In preparation for the air show, 7 LRS Airmen worked twelve- hour shifts that started many days before the air show began. Roughly 101 vehicles were cleaned before the air show, including the interiors and exteriors being washed to perfection. Routes for transporting passengers were planned and learned and tires were inspectedto make sure they would not be any surprises come showtime. "This was my first airshow since being back in the states and I have met many interesting people," said Senior Airman Mark Hinojosa, 7 LRS vehicle operator. "I just met the first person who flew a B-1 Bomber on Dyess." Senior Airman Mark Hinojosa drove the shuttle for the distinguished visitors from the Heritage Club to the DV tent during the airshow. Airman 1st Class Robert Morrison, 7 LRS vehicle operator, drove a shuttle for the general populous. Airman Morrison was also in charge of delivering rental vehicles to the United States Thunderbirds crew members. "The highlight of my day was watching the Thunderbirds perform," said Airman Morrison. All Dyess Airmen worked together in making the the airfest a hit. The Abilene community and members of Dyess celebrated the 25th anniversary of the delivery of the first B-1Bomber to Dyess thanks to the hardworking Airmen.
